Generating Generic Traffic to Your Site

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Natural traffic or generic traffic is the kind that all site owners are most interested in, it’s targetted and it’s free :)

This kind of traffic is generated by good use of SEO and also from your list (once you have built one). In the initial stages of list building, you need to focus on getting the SEO right on your site so that you start to generate generic, targetted visitors.

On page factors that increase your chances of achieving this include choosing a great domain name that has direct association with your site content, this means that even if someone simply types the keywords you have chosen as your url into their address bar, your site will come up. Good use of keywords throughout your site content is of great importance too. Don’t use the same keywords too often, look up long tail keyword phrases and associated keywords and phrases and include those in your content in order to build relevance and convince the search engine bots that will crawl your site that you have a lot to offer people looking for info on those topics.

Use the search phrases that you have identified within the content on your site, but make sure that you use them apporpriately so that your content makes sense and adds value.

Over doing this point or not using the keyword phrases in an appropriate manner will work against you..

Devote a whole page to each topic area so that you can expand on your theme and include more relevant keyword led info on each topic.  Having more pages on your site helps to convince the search engines that you are providing valuable info that is worth ranking higher for each search term.

Make sure all inks included on your site pages are working effectively, search engines don’t like broken links, and use tags on your images, this can be a great way to increase your rankings for a search term especially if you are selling products..

Off page SEO includes submitting your site to directories and internet guides, exchanging relevant links and buying links form higher page ranking sites that are relevant to your content. You can also request site reviews from more experienced marketers in your niche with a link to your site included.

Using forums can also help you to generate generic traffic, to do this effectively you need to use forums that are relevant to your niche and then position yourself within that forum as someone who is willing to share useful information on your niche topic so that people have their interest in your signature link piqued and follow it to check out what you have to offer on your site or to find out more about you.

Use your social networking and social media profiles wisely, provide an interesting background for yourself (truthful, but interesting be it in terms of what you have achieved, what you believe in and even consider using a little humour to engage people and interest them in finding out more about you).

Make sure you follow social networking etiquette closely and don’t ever spam your link everywhere no matter how tempting it is, it’s much harder to regain a good reputation than it is to generate a good reputation from the start.

Why LeadGusher?

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Another of the free advertising tools that we choose to mention on our main site is Lead Gusher

This is a great little programme that really allows you to build your list fast. People love the idea of generating free traffic and the way this works is to give you an ad page that contains a text ad, which you set up and directs people towards your main site or business opportunity site, a text ad to encourage people to check out more info about Lead Gusher and sign up for themselves (under you) and a text ad to encourage people to sign up for Brams other traffic programme (again under you as it’s free to become an affiliate there so you may as well increase your portfolio even if you only advertise it on this page).

Your Leadgusher ad page also contains a banner ad for GDI, which is the only downside (unless you promote GDI – which I don’t).

Generic traffic is generated for your ad because as part of the set up process you are encouraged to find 3 keyword phrases that relate to the site you are advertising. Once you have entered these keyword phrases, the system then automatically begins to pull in rss feeds related to those keywords, thereby adding fresh content to your page constantly.

This means that you start to rank high in the search engines for those particular keywords because your content is updated regularly :)

My ad page looks like this:

LG Ad Page

As you can see Bram has also recently added a large banner to another traffic generating site called My Social Url which he set up with a friend and is a system that allows you to link together several of your social networking profiles along with advertising your main site r business opp. All in all a very neat little package – especially as it has no cost implications (unless you choose to buy the upgrade at LG, but there is no obligation).

So you really do get to hit a few balls out of the park with this one, build your list, advertise your site plus several affiliate links and even some of your social profiles if you choose to engage with Brams other traffic generators..
